• Area-based conservation

I possess extensive expertise in comprehensive area-based conservation planning, encompassing a wide spectrum of initiatives such as Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), Other Effective Area-Based Conservation Measures (OECMs), and Marine Spatial Planning (MSP). My experience spans every phase of the process, from initial design and planning to stakeholder, expert and community engagement and coordination. As a result, I am well-equipped to provide these services at various levels, ranging from local to global, ensuring effective and tailored conservation solutions.

• Strategic planning

I have hands-on experience in creating practical, achievable strategies for conservation, whether it’s for regions or specific species. I’m skilled at keeping the big picture in mind while breaking it down into practical, achievable steps with clear and measurable milestones. I’m here to provide these valuable services to fellow conservation planners, helping them turn their conservation ambitions into actionable strategies.

• Stakeholder engagement facilitation

I firmly believe that effective conservation solutions emerge through collaboration and contributions from diverse stakeholders. Successful interaction among stakeholders hinges on a structured approach, with a clear understanding of areas of agreement and potential conflicts. This lays the groundwork for finding common ground and, when necessary, reaching compromises. I bring valuable experience in facilitating these stakeholder engagement processes, and I’ve collaborated with colleagues to develop user-friendly online tools that enhance transparency and systematise the entire process. Together, we can work towards achieving balanced and inclusive conservation outcomes.

• Analysis and investigations

I possess robust research and investigative capabilities, encompassing both scientific research and Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) investigations. I excel in information retrieval, data processing, and proficiently utilize specialized software, including GIS. My expertise spans a wide array of disciplines, extending beyond biology and ecology.

I’ve cultivated a broad and influential professional network, with a strong emphasis on the Arctic region, which provides me with invaluable insights and on-the-ground information. Additionally, I stay vigilant in monitoring daily developments across governance, business, security, and social realms in the Arctic region, with a particular focus on the Russian Arctic. This continual engagement allows me to maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date understanding of the region’s current dynamics and challenges.

• Communication and visualisation

I have experience in communicating complex concepts, making them understandable to various audiences, ranging from children to ministers. This skill developed through my experience with WWF, including my role as a spokesperson for the Living Planet Report 2020 in Russia, and more than a decade as an expedition guide and lecturer in the Polar regions.

I’m a skilled photographer with a portfolio that includes participation in numerous photographic exhibitions and winning several photo contests. I have a passion for visual storytelling; my photography work allows me to convey compelling narratives for conservation causes, and I maintain an extensive personal collection of photographs from the polar regions.
